Amazing victory by Martin Choy at Hungaroring

The world-class pilot wins this leg of the 2011 European Championship at the legendary circuit
Martin Choy with BMW won a dramatic victory in the European Alpe Adria Bike Championship in the Superstock 1000 Class in Hungary. GLOBUL Racing Team’s star finished second in the other race of the 6th leg of the Championship.
Choy triumphed at the legendary Formula 1 track by beating by 0.2 seconds last year’s champion, Michal Fiala from the Czech Republic, who also rode a BMW bike. The two pilots were engaged in an epic battle from the very start of the race which resulted in more than 10 lead changes.
This was one of the best victories in my career, said Choy after the award ceremony. - When the checkered flag flashed before my eyes I did not stop screaming for almost an entire lap. I do not even remember how I got back to the pit lane. I am very happy because I’ve been looking for my first victory this season for a long time and it kept slipping away from me. In every race so far there was always something small that went against me and even though I reached the podium I could not get the first place. This Saturday was no different. One of the HT leads came loose causing a slight sputter – just enough to set me back to the second place. I finished just behind Fila but this tripled my resolve to win this leg, this is one of my favorite circuits. I wanted this so bad I even scared myself. That’s why my joy was so uncontrollable. The Czech pilot shook my hand and said “Choy, you were like a kamikaze”.
Hungaroring is a special place for Martin, as it is where he got his first European Championship victory during his rookie’s campaign of 2011.
From Budapest Choy and his team head straight to Oschersleben (Germany) where this weekend the Bulgarian top pilot will race for Suzuki in the 3rd leg of World Championship in the SST 1000 Class.
